Community Outreach: Legal Camp at Mangolpuri

A community meeting with legal experts was held on 26 November 2022, with Com. Rehana and Delhi Unit Gen. Secy. Deepti Bharti. It started with NFIW going to Mangolpuri to help a distressed old woman who was being abused against her will, and the meeting lasted for nearly 3 hours where the legal solutions to over half a dozen women were discussed.
 
What struck out was:
a) elderly parents being abused, beaten and ill-treated by children who were squatting on their parents' property.
b) the problems with school systems as far as girls were concerned. there was clear discrimination of children based on caste and gender.  There were cases where girls were being pulled out as the administration had turned hostile. Then there were schools that were collecting data and documents that reeked of moral policing. Single mothers felt most at risk.
c) the shocking lack of knowledge regarding rights 
 
In the long run, we are working towards establishing a series of such workshops where women and communities can be educated about their #constitutionalrights .
Thank you Nirmal Agni for agreeing to help our women and educating them. 

We will be collaborating with legal organizations to help women who are facing problems due to their gender and economic status.

 Venue: Mange Ram Park  Date: 11 December 2022 Delhi Unit of NFIW organized a legal awareness workshop for women in MangeRam Park, New Delhi. Women from various backgrounds were given an orientation as well as informal training about the human rights of women as enshrined in our constitution. The community meeting was organized by Comrade Vishakha Kumari, and had Human Rights Activist Nirmal Goran  as the key speaker.  It was an opportunity for women to find out how to approach the judicial, legal and government systems for resolving their problems. The women were facing problems regarding submission of applications for rations as well as pensions.  It was also an opportunity for NFIW to find out more about the various solutions that women were designing to solve their local problems. Training in Survey Research Method for Covid

 To study the impact of Covid as an illness, and as a catalyst for social change, NFIW and PCIP will be conducting a survey among those affected. This all India exercise will survey households and families that have witnessed the devatation of Covid and the aftermath of government apathy. A workshop was conducted to train the surveyors in Delhi on the 22nd and 23rd of June 2023. Community Outreach Meeting: Joint Women's Programme and Delhi Unit of NFIW

 Date: 30 September 2023 निठारी क्षेत्र में ज्वाइंट विमन प्रोग्राम के कार्यालय में भारतीय महिला फेडरेशन की दिल्ली राज्य महासचिव दीप्ति भारती और राज्य कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष डाक्टर रुशदा सिद्दीकी ने वहाँ की महिलाओं को PoSH व POCSO कानून की जानकारी दी।  उससे पहले दीप्ति जी ने उन को भारतीय महिला फेडरेशन के इतिहास और कामों के बारे में बताया।    उपस्थित युवा महिलाओं ने कुछ प्रश्न कानून और उनको उपयोग करने के बारे पूछे।    इस सफल बैठक के अंत में ज्वाइंट विमेन प्रोग्राम की एसोसिएट डायरेक्टर पद्ममिनी कुमार ने इस जागरूक ता कार्यक्रम के लिए भारतीय महिला फेडरेशन की दिल्ली नेतृत्व का धन्यवाद किया और आगे भी इस प्रकार के कार्यक्रम आयोजित करने की इच्छा जाहिर की।  दीप्ति भारती ने मीटिंग में आई महिलाओं, लड़कियों और ज्वाइंट विमेन प्रोग्राम की टीम को धन्यवाद दिया।
